The higher education landscape in the United States is arguably more competitive than ever before. As enrolment patterns continue to change, higher education institutions (HEIs) can no longer rely on direct international recruitment alone. When developing a comprehensive internationalisation agenda, it is vital for HEIs to consider the role of strategic international partnerships in their institutional goals. Successful institutions think beyond traditional recruitment methods and focus on strategic partnership development and innovative models when crafting a strong internationalisation agenda, a foundation of transnational education (TNE).
WHY CCG?
Partnerships are not formed by simply signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU). Strong, strategic partnerships require a targeted approach, a clear understanding of both institutions’ goals, and a strong understanding of the international education sector. Cormack Consultancy Group (CCG), a leading international consultancy, has been supporting universities in their strategic partnership and internationalisation efforts since 1999. With over 20 years of industry experience, CCG has a strong history of supporting universities by facilitating collaboration, building knowledge, and introducing innovative practices in the field of international education that support the financial and internationalisation goals of HEIs.
WHY TRANSNATIONAL EDUCATION?
As institutions continue to evolve, it is important to consider the longevity and greater implications of traditional recruitment methods. While increased student enrolment is a goal of most, if not all, HEIs, it is vital to diversify and consider innovative models when planning internationalisation efforts.
Transnational education (TNE) is characterised as "the mobility of programmes, providers, and learners." It encompasses various arrangements between two parties, including articulation and progression agreements, joint and dual degree programmes, online education, joint research collaboration, franchise/content licensing, and the establishment of branch campuses between institutions in different countries. Strategic TNE efforts help successful HEIs to strengthen their internationalisation strategies and diversify their offerings and efforts.
WHAT IS THE TNEP?
The Transnational Education Platform (TNEP), established by CCG, is a dedicated platform to support the growth of TNE in the United States. TNEP will support staff and faculty at higher education institutions in identifying solutions and opportunities that help accomplish their internationalisation goals, whether that is diversifying enrolment and building additional revenue sources, internationalising campus or curriculum, providing global opportunities for students and faculty, improving global competence of your staff and faculty, or building your reputation in a given market through specific TNE activities.
